HOW TO SUPPORT

THE WORLD'S MOST TRAFFICKED MAMMAL
Where Do Pangolins Live?
Pangolins are found across Asia and sub-Saharan Africa, thriving in diverse habitats from tropical forests to grasslands and savannas.
-
Asian Pangolins (Manis genus) – Found in countries like China, India, and Southeast Asia, they prefer forests and plantations.
-
African Pangolins (Phataginus & Smutsia genera) – Found across central and southern Africa, living in forests, grasslands, and semi-arid regions.
Despite their adaptability, habitat loss and poaching threaten them in every region.
Fun Facts about Pangolins
Natural Armor – Their scales are made of keratin, the same protein as human nails! When threatened, they curl into a tight ball.
Crazy Tongues – Their tongues can be longer than their bodies and are anchored deep in their chests, perfect for slurping up thousands of ants and termites.
Nighttime Hunters – Most pangolins are nocturnal, using their keen sense of smell to locate insect nests.
Two-Legged Strolls – Some pangolins walk on two legs, balancing with their tails like tiny dinosaurs!
Super Moms – Baby pangolins, called “pangopups,” ride on their mother’s tails until they’re old enough to forage alone.
Why are Pangolins Endangered?
The Illegal Wildlife Trade
-
Pangolins are the most trafficked mammals in the world. Their scales are falsely believed to have medicinal properties, and their meat is considered a delicacy in some cultures.
-
Despite international trade bans, black-market demand fuels poaching, with tens of thousands killed each year.
Habitat Loss & Deforestation
-
Expanding agriculture and urbanization are destroying pangolin habitats, making survival even harder.
-
Without safe environments, pangolins struggle to find food and shelter, pushing them closer to extinction.

About the Artist
My wife says that I use art to process the energy I absorb throughout the day. Sometimes I'm paid for a tattoo or a logo (owlmagickink.myportfolio.com ), but between paid gigs, I have far too much spirit to share (kresskult.myportfolio.com)!
I have been blessed with the two bestest babies; my pitbull, Brianna, and Siberian, Black Water Tiger. You can see these cuties on my Instagram, @Jeffrey_Kress_Creates.
